We are happy to provide such military families with a home away from home. Over the years, many of these military families upon retirement have returned to make this area their home. Many of these families said they returned because they found our parishes to be welcoming communities of faith that embraced them with the love of Christ.
Although St. James and St. Mary's parishes are diverse in size, they are unified in their mission to bring the person of Jesus Christ to all and to make his message of love and mercy alive in our hearts and communities.
Whether you are an active or inactive Catholic, a non-Catholic Christian or a non-baptized person searching for something more rewarding than the materialism that this world has to offer, I believe you can find the spirituality that gives new life in the Risen Christ who is present with us in our communities of faith.
At St. James Church, we are also fortunate in having a parish elementary and middle school known as
Carthage Augustinian Academy. This school has a rich history and tradition that dates back to 1885 when it was opened through the efforts of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the
Diocese of Ogdensburg. The Sisters still operate the school with a dedicated lay faculty. More information on the Academy can be obtained by accessing their website through a link noted on this website.
